Come and hire a canoe in Shropshire – Ironbridge Canoe Hire is available on the river Severn not far from Shrewsbury, Telford and Bridgnorth.

Mini-Raft Hire

You can hire our 3.3 metre rafts on our 7 mile route. Each raft holds between 2-5 people and are a great alternative to a canoe or kayak. Ideal for friends and family, and especially popular with those with younger children (minimum age 4 years). Furthermore, you can enjoy a floating picnic in your raft as you paddle down river. As well as all the equipment needed we also provide a free shuttle up to the starting point after you park your vehicle in Bridgnorth. We also have a breakfast club where you can meet us in Coalport where your trip starts and enjoy a tasty breakfast at The Brewery Inn before you head off on the river. At the end of the trip we will transport you back to your car.

 Verified Raft Trip from Coal Port to Bridgnorth.
We recently completed the Coal Port to Bridgnorth route which was our first time using a raft. We had an amazing day on the river. We saw plenty of wild life. The stretch of the river was straightforward to navigate with interesting landmarks through the Shropshire countryside. I would recommend this to anyone who is a beginner and the route is not too difficult. It took us 10 minutes to get coordinated with our paddling but once the harmony was achieved we gained pace. You pass some very beautiful stretches of woodland, open fields and the sand stone cliffs that pepper Shropshire. Bridgnorth as the landing point is an amazing town and has many points of interest including the cliff railway and the Severn Valley Steam Railway.

Had the most loveliest day!! A last minute weekend decision and it did not disappoint. Both the instructors were lovely and told us lots of funny stories on the drive to Coalport. The water conditions were perfect, had fun on the rafts but it was calm enough to enjoy a floating picnic halfway along our journey. Would definitely recommend!

Had such a great time, the instructors were amazing, very helpful and friendly. The views were stunning and even though it rained we all enjoyed ourselves so much. A few friends had never been kayaking before and absolutely loved it. Would definitely go back and do it again!! We booked this as a family activity for fathers day. Out of the 4 of us only I had any previous kayak experience. The communication before the day was great, giving clear instructions of where to go, how to pay for parking, what to bring and what to expect. We were warned in advance that the high river may mean we needed to be changed to a mini raft for safety reasons on the day, luckily this wasn't the case though. . We arrived early and parking was easy. Sharon was there on time to collect us exactly where the email said. We were then taken to the site we would launch from. We were given a laminated card to keep with us on each kayak (we had hired two double kayaks) that gave a description of the route and had a phone number to contact when we reached the designated landmark so they could help us disembark and collect the equipment. We were also given a talk on the route and where to position ourselves at each point on the river to avoid issues. Both Sharon and the gentleman with her (so sorry I have forgotten your name already|!) were both so friendly and helpful which really helped calm my daughters nerves. We were provided with spacious dry bags to store our food and drinks in (on for each kayak) which turned out to be an absolute blessing. The route itself was very relaxing for the most part, with plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the surroundings. There was a rogue tree that was jutting out at one point during a rougher part of the ride which did cause my husband and daughters kayak to capsize, but after swimming to the side to hop back in they were soon off again and back to enjoying the views. There was plenty of wildlife to see along the route as well, and at one point we were seemingly being followed by a heron for a fair distance. We rang the number provided when we reached the landmark and as promised we were met at the end of the route, helped out of the kayaks and had our pictures taken. The total journey took us about 2.5 hours. You could have definitely taken longer if you wanted to though. They even took photos as we approached at the end and emailed them to us for free! Honestly it was a great experience and we will definitely be back (if we don't end up buying our own kayak in the meantime)
